 About Sacred Sthala Atlas


Sacred Sthala Atlas is a structured pilgrimage mapping project that organizes major South Indian sacred temples into geographically connected travel-ready phases.

The atlas integrates:

276 Paadal Petra Sthalams (Shiva)

106 Divya Desams (Vishnu)

6 Arupadai Veedu (Murugan)

Ancient and historically significant Amman temples

Additional sacred regional temples of cultural importance


Purpose of the Atlas

To present temples not as isolated locations, but as connected sacred landscapes.

To support pilgrims in planning region-wise temple journeys.

To preserve traditional Tamil Nadu sacred geography through Nadu-based mapping.


Atlas Structure

The atlas is divided into 55 pilgrimage phases grouped under traditional regions:

Tondai Nadu

Nadu Nadu

Chola Nadu

Pandya Nadu

Kongu Nadu

Eezha Nadu

Other Regions including Andhra, Karnataka, Kerala, Himalaya, and Nepal


Each phase includes:

Temple locations mapped geographically

Traditional classification references

Regional travel grouping logic

Historical and devotional context


This atlas is intended as a long-term devotional reference and pilgrimage planning companion.
